Kousha Afarin

Kousha holds dual master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning and Policy Design from Politecnico di Milano.

Throughout his academic journey, Kousha delved into the intricate dynamics of urban spaces, focusing particularly on the intersection of nature-based solutions and public safety concerns. His master’s thesis, titled “The Impact of Nature-Based Solutions on Fear of Crime: Exploring Strategies for Enhancing Safety in Public Spaces,” scrutinized the role of expression strategies such as Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), Broken Windows Theory (BWT), and Eyes on the Streets (EOS) in mitigating fear of crime and enhancing the quality of urban spaces.

As a passionate advocate for sustainable urban development, Kousha’s professional interests extend to the implementation of green infrastructure, the promotion of efficient public transportation systems, and the advancement of operations powered by renewable energy sources.

He currently works on the project named Pro-GREEN-LABs which focus on quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation of teaching and research on sustainable urban planning project.
